Poliigon phasing out Specular maps. Only Metalness maps now. Is Poliigon no longer an option?

As Poliigon is no longer offering Specular workflow texture maps, and only offering Metalness workflow texture maps, is there any point in remaining a Poliigon subscriber?

Can KeyShot use Metalness texture maps and still look photo-realistic? If not, is there a work-around?

Sure, you can use metalness. Just use the Generic material and it has inputs for this map type. However, note that the Generic shader in Keyshot doesn’t support ALL the attributes you may want such as Opacity and SSS.

Thanks Will! Are there any utility nodes I should add or changes to the texture maps you would recommend for the Metalness workflow, apart from changing the contrast to zero for non-color data and inverting gloss to roughness?

If I’m correct Luxion/Keyshot are also working at a better material type for PBR materials and that would save a lot of time. Especially if you’re also using other software generating PBR materials or like you, download models/materials based on PBR.

Dear Will,

I am your fan! Unconditionally!

In your texturing video you mentioned that you may add a tutorial including the metalness workflow! I would love to see that!
